about

This is SALQIU's Arabic themed Atmospheric Blackened Death Metal album.

SALQIU knows no boundaries and is always recorded as an exploration of sounds and ideas. This time around it is based on some ethnicism from the Middle East. From Turkish Alaturka guitars to Arabic sounds and flutes. There was this calling inside me, since I visited Ankara, Egypt and especially the Sahara desert in Tunisia.
I tried to sketch the opulence, vastness and sheer mysticism of the desert.

Also, would this really be SALQIU release if it wasn't different from anything done previously?
"Cultural appropriation"? Absolutely not. Just an interpretation of some wild dreams over overwhelming life experiences

Lyrics for "death" based on a poem by Imru' al-Qais (501-544)
Lyrics for "An Elegy" based on a poem by Abu Ala’a al-Ma‘arri (973-1057)
Lyrics for "The Translation of Desires" based on a poem by Ibn Arabi (1165-1240)

Recorded in 3 sessions (days).
